This policy explains the personal information collected through the Lalapa Safaris website, how website features use it, and how to contact us about your information.

Lalapa Safaris and your contact

Ray is Lalapa Safaris’ named representative and primary contact for privacy requests, booking enquiries and complaints. Contact Ray at ray@lalapasafaris.co.za or +27 (0) 83 654 3697.

For a privacy request, use “Privacy request” in the email subject and explain the information or issue involved. Do not send identity documents unless a suitable verification method has been agreed with Ray.

Information collected

  • Safari enquiries: first name, surname, email address, hunter and observer numbers, country/state/province, desired species, previous African hunting experience and any additional information you enter. The form enforces required fields; you can also contact Ray directly.
  • Email news: first name, surname and email address, together with the separate email-marketing choice. The marketing checkbox is not preselected.
  • Correspondence: information you choose to send in an enquiry, email or subsequent booking discussion. Please avoid sending passport numbers, payment-card details, medical records or unnecessary information about children through general website forms.
  • Technical requests: the website server receives the network and browser information needed to respond to a request, such as IP address, requested page and browser headers.
  • Analytics and external services: Google Analytics loads automatically to measure website visits and interactions. Videos, maps, interactive social content and Google Fonts also load automatically where used. Their providers receive the requests needed to deliver those services and may use cookies or similar technologies.

How information is used

Lalapa Safaris uses enquiry details to respond to your request and discuss your proposed safari. Website forms send messages through the website’s email service. The newsletter connection forwards signup details when the separate email-marketing choice is selected. Form spam protection helps identify automated submissions.

Analytics measures website use and interactions. The site’s custom analytics events do not include the contents of enquiry fields. See the Cookie Policy for automatically loaded services and browser controls. Submitting an enquiry or acknowledging this policy does not subscribe you to email marketing.

Service providers and recipients

Website hosting and email-service providers support operation and message delivery. The email-marketing service receives subscriber details when the newsletter choice is selected. Google receives analytics requests, and external content providers receive requests when their features load. Following a social, email or other external link takes you to a separate service with its own practices.

For a proposed safari involving other service providers, ask Ray which parties need your information and what they need it for before supplying additional booking details.

Retention and deletion

Contact Ray for the retention period or criteria that apply to a particular enquiry, booking, subscription or other record, and to request deletion or correction. A deletion request is subject to any lawful requirement or other applicable ground for retaining a record. Browser cookies and storage can also be managed through your browser settings.

International processing

Analytics, embedded content and email-news services can involve processing outside South Africa. Contact Ray for information about the service arrangements relevant to your information. POPIA places conditions on cross-border transfers; this policy does not treat the presence of a provider’s software as proof of a particular transfer safeguard.

Security

The public website uses HTTPS, WordPress administrative sign-in controls and form spam protection. These measures do not make email or internet transmission risk-free. Do not send payment-card details or sensitive documents through the general enquiry forms; contact Ray about the appropriate way to provide information needed for your booking.

Your rights and marketing choices

Subject to applicable requirements and exceptions, POPIA provides rights to ask about processing and access to personal information, request correction or deletion, object to qualifying processing and direct marketing, and withdraw consent where processing relies on consent. Contact Ray to make a request and agree any proportionate identity verification needed.

To stop email marketing, contact Ray or use the unsubscribe option where provided in the message. Withdrawing newsletter permission does not cancel a safari enquiry or booking. Analytics and embedded content load automatically, and this website does not provide a per-site switch for them. Browser privacy controls may limit these services.

Complaints and questions

Contact Ray using the details above about a privacy concern or complaint. You may also use the Information Regulator’s complaint process in South Africa. Your ability to raise a privacy concern does not depend on accepting website terms.
